The Royal City of Sukhothai, Thailand
Sukhothai is the capital of Sukhothai province in Norhtern Tailand. Its main attraction is Sukhotahi Historical Park , the ruins of the city which was the capital of S ukhothai Kingdom in the 13th and 14th centuries. This World Heritage Site can be accessed by a 15 minute bus ride from the city, and makes a perfect day trip if you are into history, photography, or you want to spend a relaxing day outdoors. The Historical Park is divided in five sections: the inner city, and the East, West, North and South cities. The entrance fee is 100B per section, or 350B if you want to visit them all. As it is a quite big area, the best way to get around is to rent a bike. There are several places to do so in front of the inner city entrance. Once inside, you are free to wander around as you please. We visited the park in November, and it was very quiet and relaxing.
